SHC Collaborates with Nā Mea ʻIke ʻIa to Establish Info/Monitoring Table at The Bay
Dec 1, 2021
To address aggressive tourism and the overuse of Honolua, Save Honolua Coalition has partnered with Nā Mea ʻIke ʻIa to establish a manned education/information/monitoring table at The Bay near the boat ramp. We are following the model that Liz Foote established with Project Sealink/Makai Watch years ago. The idea is that the majority of people want to do the right thing, they just need to be exposed to the right information including proper reef/snorkeling etiquette, reef safe sunscreens, and given a cultural sense of place. Also, having eyes on the ground will help detour and prevent bad behavior and questionable practices.
