Makai Watch

Save Honolua in partnership with the DLNR and Nature Conservancy have started the Makai Watch program at Honolua Bay. We are eyes on the ground and educators. We help tourists respect our precious natural resources and help prevent violations. The idea is that the majority of people want to do the right thing, they just need to be exposed to the right information including proper reef/snorkeling etiquette, reef safe sunscreens, and given a cultural sense of place. Our presence helps detour bad behavior and questionable practices. Donations are welcome because this is an expensive task.
